On May 22, new CVU Theatre Director, Elisa Van Duyne, announced that the Fall 2023 Musical will be Disney's Newsies. Newsies is an exciting, poignant musical, based on the New York City newsboy strike of 1899. When young newspaper sellers are exploited beyond reason by their bosses, they band together to enact change against the ruthlessness of big business. As you can see from the video above, we were just a tad excited about the selection of musical!

Notes from the Music Director:

Hey Everyone!
We're so looking forward to our upcoming auditions. To help you prepare, we've provided PDF files of the musical selections for you to study in advance. We'll also teach these selections during the August Intensive.
We suggest...
  • If you're interested in Newsies Ensemble (including Les) sing Seize the Day (Newsies Ensemble/Les Cut)
  • If you're interested in Davey or Crutchy, sing Seize the Day (Davey's Cut); a separate Crutchie musical selection will be used during callbacks, if needed.
  • If you're interested in Medda, sing That's Rich
  • If you're interested in Pulitzer, sing The Bottom Line
  • If you're interested in Katherine, sing Watch What Happens
  • If you're interested in Jack, sing Santa Fe
  • If you are a treble voice auditioning for Jack, we have provided two alternative keys (Eb Major and F Major) that are better suited to treble voices. Choose the key that works best for you.
Thanks!
Cameron
